Discover East Frisia by bike and canoe
Paddle and pedal stations allow transfers at 20 stations.
If you'd like to discover East Frisia from the water, you should take a close look at the locations of the paddle and pedal boat rental stations. Here you can switch to a different type of vessel and explore the region by water on the rivers and canals.
Ditzum also has such a station, offering an idyllic tour towards Ditzumerverlaat. Further stations are located within a 25-kilometer radius, including Emden, Rorichum, Bedekasple (Großes Meer), Leer-Loga, and Timmel.

From Ditzum to Ditzumerverlaat
A paddle and pedal tour lasting approximately 2.5 hours
It's just 500 meters from the hotel entrance to the local canoe and pedal boat station. There, Hannes Bakker and his team welcome you daily between April and October. The canoes are then launched onto the Ditzum Bunder Sieltief canal. From there, it's a 6.5-kilometer paddle to the finish line in Ditzumerverlaat. A break is scheduled after about an hour before you arrive.
Those mooring at the rest stop have the chance to see the Wynhamster Mill. This windmill and water-pumping mill was built in 1804 to drain the Wynhamster Kolk. At 2.5 meters below sea level, it is the lowest point in the state of Lower Saxony.
Back in the canoe, it's just under 30 minutes until you switch to the rental bikes. The pre-planned route, which is part of the International Dollard Route, initially takes you along the paddling path before you head towards the Dollart. From there, it's a straight ride back to Ditzum. Of course, you can also plan your own route.
